Giving Charity

mosheber5

Giving charity is not obligatory for those who observe the 7 commandments, it is permission. In fact, commandments that are permission are higher in root than commandments that are compulsory. It makes sense to be thankful to the creator for the wealth he gives us. When a person keeps his wealth only for himself, his behavior is based on the assumption that his wealth was created by his own power. But when a person recognizes the fact that the creator of the world watches over his creatures and gives them everything, he is ready to give to others as well. He knows that everything belongs to the creator and therefore, he is happy to do G-d’s will. When a person earns money in a business, the real reason why he has profits is giving him the ability to give charity to the poor from his profits and fulfill the 7 mitzvot of Noahides. One can adjust the amount of money he wants to give in accordance with his financial situation.
