Noah's Ark represents the idea of the survival of humanity within a divinely protected ship. This week's Torah reading describes how the Flood covered the entire world, but Noah, his family, and the thousands of animals, including predators, in Noah's Ark were saved.
Diverse species of animal, which would usually battle together or attack one another, dwelt calmly together. Noah's Ark represented the ultimate peace of the redemption era. The Seven Noahide Laws are the Divine instructions to Noah and his descendants. The Noahide Laws constitute seven general rules of goodness for all humanity, including respect for the sanctity of life. Respecting the sanctity of life led to a much better world. Noahide Laws could lead to awareness of G‑d's Presence: "The world will be filled with the knowledge of G‑d as the waters cover the sea" (Isaiah 11:9) this prophecy, links with that of the waters of the Flood, yet in a spiritually positive mode.
