The Haftarah for Vayigash is a prophecy about the uniting of the two kingdoms, Judah and Israel, in the time of Moshiach.
The haftarah ( a series of selections from the books of Prophets of the Hebrew Bible that is publicly read in synagogue after the Torah portion) describes how G-d will gather all the Jewish people, from wherever they are. He will unite them into one nation under one king; “no longer will they be divided into two kingdoms.”
King Moshiach is one person, but his leadership will take two forms. First, he will be a king, bringing law and order. He will be the Ceasar upon the entire world. In Hebrew, a cesarean means, “one that exits through a wall” something that is out of the ordinary. Moshiach will do the extraordinary, this is why the term Caesar is used. Also, he is called “My servant David” with the word “servant” first, because it is specifically his nullification to G-d that will change the world.
His second way of governing will be as a teacher, he will be close to the people and rule not from a position of power, but from a position of acceptance. As there will be no more need for power because law and order will be natural.
Moshiach will be wiser than Solomon and teach Torah at a new level since there will then be a great thirst for the knowledge of G-d. This will be the purpose of Moshiach, to teach Torah. Though his teaching will be at a level never experienced before, it is however Torah, which is never changing. Moshiach’s kingship will last forever over the entire humanity and our only desire will be then for a deeper understanding of G-d and his Torah.
